Scotscraig Cup Ringers Best

Gross

Best gross score on each hole accumulated across all rounds of golf played on Saturdays during the year.

2006

This background information to the Scotscraig Cup is provided by Russley GC member, Hugh Ross:

‘I often won the Ringers Gross and initially the little egg cup size bent and beat up trophy would be presented. It was lost at one stage and for two years I won and it didn't appear! At that stage, my boyhood friend (David) who started golf with me at Scotscraig Golf Club, Scotland was visiting me and I asked whether he thought it would be alright for me to present a new trophy and call it the Scotscraig Cup. The timing was right because David was about to become the Club Captain of the Scotscraig Golf Club! During his time as Club Captain David visited Christchurch again and at that time facilitated the Russley/Scotscraig reciprocal club arrangement.’
